Susan Marina Yeoman
February 26, 1952 - June 13, 2025

The family of Susan Yeoman (nee Thompson) sadly announce her passing at University Hospital, London, on Friday June 13, 2025, at age 73. Loving wife of 53 years to Russell Yeoman of Chatsworth, and cherished mother of Marina Price (Matthew) of Wellesley, Mark Yeoman (Akie Ohori) of Vancouver BC, and Jason Yeoman (Stefanie) of Airdrie AB. Loving grandmother of Oliver, Lucy, Molly, Keegan, and Madeline. Susan is survived by her brother Dr. James Thompson (Ann) and sister-in-law Ruby Millard (Alex). She was predeceased by her parents James Harold and Dorothy (Peggy) Thompson (nee Edwards) and by her in-laws Edward Yeoman (Joan Brubacher), Raymond Yeoman, and Leonard Yeoman. She will be fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews, and friends in the community. Susan always believed that you learn a lot from nature if you only pay attention, after all, it's been here longer than us all.

Born in 1952 among the rugged beauty of the mountains near Salmon Arm, British Columbia, Susan Yeoman came into this world with the resilience and spirit that would define her life. Times were not always easy—fetching water from the creek, living close to the land—but those early years nurtured in her a lifelong love for the outdoors and a deep appreciation for simplicity, strength, and nature’s quiet wisdom. Susan had a gift for connecting with people, and one of her earliest jobs at a tourist visitor centre showed just how naturally she could make others feel welcome and seen. Her path led her to Centralia College, where she studied Home Economics—and more fatefully, where she met Russ, the man who would become her husband and life partner for 53 beautiful years. From the beginning, she was his rock—mentally tough, physically strong, and endlessly supportive. Susan brought that same strength and compassion to everything she did. As a Food Supervisor at Brucelea Haven in Walkerton, Errinrung Retirement Home in Thornbury and the Lutheran Nursing Home in Owen Sound, she helped care for others with dignity and dedication. Together, they also managed a 100-acre farm—raising pigs and dairy cattle, raising their children, and raising a life built on hard work, love, and laughter. Alongside Russ, she would also keep the books for their landscaping businesses in Southampton and Owen Sound.

Married in 1972, Susan and Russ raised three children, and she gave them the best gift a mother can give: unwavering support, the freedom to explore life on their own terms, and a warm home filled with love—and with cookies, pies, and her famous shortbread. She never said no to anything fun and delighted in simple joys: cross-country skiing, gardening, genealogy, reading, and games like Boggle or watching Wheel of Fortune.

Susan was a woman of quiet adventure. She had a keen sense of direction and loved to explore the backroads of the Bruce Peninsula. She cherished the family camping trips, the serenity of a scenic drive, and the deep calm that only the outdoors can offer. She had her favourite shows—Coronation Street and The Curse of Oak Island—but her truest joy came from staying connected to the people she loved. Susan was the glue in her family, the one who remembered birthdays, kept in touch, and made sure everyone felt included and cared for.

Her legacy is one of strength, kindness, and gentle guidance. A loving wife, devoted mother, caring professional, and true friend—Susan lived a full life rooted in love, family, and a deep connection to the land she called home. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten, for her spirit lives on in the lives she touched, the family she cherished, and the memories she leaves behind.

Cremation has taken place and arrangements entrusted to the Garafraxa Hill Funeral Home, Chatsworth. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday June 19, 2025, at 2:00pm, officiated by David Fries.
