Aubrey James "Jim" Flood
June 5, 1936 - November 13, 2016
Aubrey James (Jim) Flood, of Chatsworth, passed peacefully November 13, 2016 with his devoted family by his side, 80 years young. He is survived by his adoring wife of 53 years, Gail Margaret (nee Rolling) and their loving children Richard and Catherine. James was predeceased by his parents Stan Flood and Doris (Slade).
His proud family remembers him as a good and dependable man, devoted husband and a loving father. He was taught the value of hard work from his dad at a very early age. Jim had a limited education but his determination and work ethic saw him start his own waste management business from the trunk of his car to modern multi ton garbage trucks. For 20 plus years Jim earned the respect of many businesses and residences from Chatsworth to Shallow Lake. When his son joined his efforts, also at an early age, it was common for them to work 20 hr shifts and sleep for a couple of hours in their truck to fulfill their commitment. When they finished that work, Jim joined Gail and Cathy's efforts on the 2 one hundred acre farms. Hard work was all he knew; he never took time for any vacation. In later years he drove a cab and especially loved serving the elderly. A charismatic personality with a deep faith in Christ, he would bid farewell to his passengers “May the good Lord take a liking to you”. He is eating peanut butter sandwiches from above and waiting to be reunited with his devoted wife and children.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Garafraxa Hill Funeral Home, Chatsworth. A graveside service for Jim will be held at Shiloh Cemetery, Chatsworth on Tuesday, November 15, at 11:00 am with Pastor Michael Henkel officiating. Donations to the charity of ones choice would be greatly appreciated. Condolences may be expressed online at www.garafraxahillfuneral.com.
