Remembering Catherine Kuhl

From: David Golem
I remember Cathy from sometime around my age 5 when we attended a family event at the Batterman farm.  I remember thinking then that she was the most beautiful young lady I had ever seen.  She was probably about 12 at the time.  Perhaps a year ago I last spoke with Cathy because I was continuing to research our family history and had to ask her which farm was the Batterman homestead.  There was an outside entrance to the cellar which had a sloped barn-board double door, which I remember sliding down as a child.  That same day Mother and brother Keith and I walked to the St. Peters Cemetery to visit the grave of my Great Grandmother, Eva Batterman nee Schlotzhauer who was Cathy's Step-Grand Mother, first wife of Henirich (perhaps Heinrich) Batterman (1852-1928).  I extend my condolences to all the family who knew and loved Cathy.

Andrew and family: I was saddened to read about your mother's passing.  Cathy and I had corresponded in the last number of years because of my mom, her Aunt Emily Baker, Newfoundland. I always enjoyed Cathy's cards and notes and the updates; I will miss them. Please accept my condolences. Linda (Baker) Davis

Dear Dr Andrew, Siobhan, and Anneliese, We are saddened to hear of your Mother's passing. She was a kind and humble lady  who I have  known over the years by way of my Mother, Mary Golem(Donovan). My Mom kept frequent contact with your Mom as they were step cousins.

My Mom's mother was Emma Batterman(my grandmother).  Emma was an older step sister to your Grandfather Hardy Batterman. I was told she was a caregiver to those children from our Great Grandfather Henry Batterman who had 3 wives, and hence 3 families.  My Mom was family #2 and your Mom was family #3. You may already be aware of this interesting history which I have finally figured out myself. You already know what a wonderful Mother she was.  She was a special lady to many and will be missed.
Sending you and your family a Big Hug, Mary Carol Parsons

Aunt Cathy was simply always there - at every community and church event, in Desboro and the larger community.  She was a tireless volunteer, and such a enthusiastic participant - I always enjoyed seeing her take part in the Desboro Agricultural Society variety programs.   We have so many fond memories of this amazing and talented Aunt - she will be remembered and missed.  Thoughts and prayers are with you Andrew,  Siobhan and Anneliese.

Dear Andrew and Siobhan. Cathy was a wonderful and caring lady. We were so fortunate to have Aunt Cathy as a neighbour for so many years. Dawson, Colleen and Garrett looked forward to Halloween each year and especially stopping to visit Aunt Cathy's. Every year she would meet them at the door dressed in costume and always took a picture of them that would come in her Christmas card. The Desboro community has lost a very special lady, and especially all her friend's on the 10th of Sullivan. A wonderful lady we were blessed to call Aunt Cathy.
