Dixie Roberta Dupon
August 9, 1941 - January 19, 2026
After a life full of love, laughter, family, great friends, music and dancing, Dixie Roberta Dupon (nee Barnard) passed away peacefully, surrounded by love, family and friends on January 19, 2026 at Brightshores Health System- Owen Sound. Born August 9, 1941 in Ecum Secum, Nova Scotia, she was in her 85th year. She is survived by her husband Ed (Edward) Dupon who she met when both were in the Canadian Air Force. If ever asked how they met she always replied “I chased him until he caught me”. They married after knowing each other only 3 months and were married for 64 years. She was a loving mother to son Dwayne Edward Dupon, daughter Kelly Lee Dupon and bonus daughter Lea Garvey.
She was a wonderful grandmother to Laura (Rob), Sandy, Sara (Zach) Nick (Tia) Delaney(Josh) and Jesse. A very proud great-grandmother to Quayd, Camryn, Drew, Dallas, Parker, Cole, Helena, Lucius, Evangeline, Dean, Gracie and Chloe; and was very much looking forward to the arrival of baby Dupon-Hiltz in March of this year. She is also survived by her brother Steve (Wilda) and sister Melda. She was predeceased by her parents Laura and Harry (Henry) Barnard and siblings Owen, Perry, Wallace, Ruby, Anita, Reginald, Effie, Vera, Geraldine, Phyllis, Edythe and Jim. She will be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, and friends in the community.
Dixie will always be remembered for her love of Newfoundland and her pride in being from Nova Scotia. She loved lobster, Elvis, Stompin’ Tom, dancing, being a proud Chatsworth Legion member, her flower gardens, knitting, embroidery, her love of decorating her home for every holiday, homemade relish and grandma soup. She was an avid reader and loved puzzles. She treasured her lifelong friendships and loved any occasion to get together with friends and family.
“Love me tender, love me true, all my dreams fulfill. For my darling, I love you, and I always will.” We will always love you Dixie.
Cremation has taken place and arrangements entrusted to the Garafraxa Hill Funeral Home, Chatsworth. A Celebration of Life to honour Dixie will be announced at a later date. The family wish to express their special thanks to the nurses, doctors and care team on 8-1 Rehab unit. Your exceptional care, love and compassion for Dixie and our family was nothing less than exceptional. You are truly angels on earth. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all your kindness in navigating this journey with us and loving our girl like she was your own Mom.
