Anna Margaretha Poppelreiter

October 30, 1930 -  January 2, 2017

Anna Margaretha Poppelreiter (nee Feltges) of Holland Centre, passed suddenly at home on January 2, 2017 with family at her side in her 87th year. Margaretha is now reunited with her late husband Bernhard who predeceased her in 1993. She is survived by her daughter Christa of Holland Centre.  Margaretha was predeceased by her parents Johann and Susanna (Neustadt) Feltges.

Margaretha was born in Salm, a small farming community in Germany. She and Bernhard were married there in 1952, before settling here in the Chatsworth area. Farming was their life long passion and  together they raised mixed livestock, and grew most of their own food. A tremendously hard worker, Margaretha would frequently spend the entire day tending to the gardens,  fields and animals in her care. Well into her eighties, she was still baling her own hay. During quiet times, she enjoyed listening to the folk music of her native Germany. Friends remember her as always having a smile on her face and described her heart as being like a Ford station wagon...always room for one more!

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Garafraxa Hill Funeral Home, Chatsworth. Family and friends will be invited to a graveside service for Margaretha to be held at the Hemstock Cemetery Chatsworth April 19, 2017. Online condolences may be expressed at www.garafraxahillfuneral.com.
