Evelyn Winnifred Turner

May 16, 1927 - November 12, 2016

Evelyn Winnifred Turner (nee Cain), of Owen Sound, passed away peacefully November 12, 2016 in her 90th year. Evelyn joins her loving husband John who predeceased her in March of 2002. She is survived by her devoted children Candee Backus (Rob), and John (Ruth) and will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren Jason (Leah), Matt, Kris (Jodie), Terria (Russ), and great-grandchildren Elanor, Emma, and Megan. Evelyn was predeceased by her parents Molson Carl Cain and Gladys (nee Graham) and by sisters Audrey Barber (Bill) and Patsy Tait (Jack).

Evelyn will be remembered as a great organizer and it was always her way or the highway. And how she loved the highway! Together with husband John, their truck and trailer combo toured across much of Canada and the US.  For over 30 years they ventured to Nokomis Florida to spend the winter; enjoying the sunshine and planning extravagant parties at the trailer park where they resided. They also enjoyed spending time in the Caribbean and Hawaii. Evelyn loved to entertain and was a great cook. A fancy dinner with a glass of white zinfandel (or maybe a black Russian!) was always a sign of time well spent with family and friends. She loved sewing, crocheting, knitting and attending craft shows. Evelyn was very fond of her cats and dogs, raising boxers for more than 20 years.  She will be deeply missed by her family.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Garafraxa Hill Funeral Home, Chatsworth. Cremation has taken place. Evelyn's ashes are going to the warm Caribbean so her final resting place will be in a spot that is warm all year; where the sounds of the surf breaking and seagulls crying will always be with her. Family has requested that donations  go to Grey Bruce Hospice/Chapman House. www.greybrucehospice.com or a charity of ones choice. Condolences may be expressed online @www.garafraxahillfuneral.com
