Jim enjoyed life to the fullest; “work hard, play hard!” In the early '50's, Jim worked as a finisher at the RCA factory in Owen Sound. In his spare time, he built several small recreational boats, learned to fly small aircraft's and owned a Piper Cub. In the 60's, he started a family country and western band (Jimmy's Lakeview Ramblers), entertaining at many anniversaries, weddings and parties throughout Grey and Bruce counties. Jim was a founding member of the Glendale Yacht Club at William's Lake (1956 – 2019), member of the United Church, and was a custodian and bus driver at Holland-Chatsworth School from 1965 until his retirement in 1992. Being an avid sportsman, Jim excelled in any sport he tried: especially swimming, diving, skating, water-skiing, downhill skiing, hockey, bowling and curling. He continued to play 18 holes of golf and fished regularly until his health deteriorated four years ago. Most importantly, Jim loved and was proud of his family and friends.
