Joyce Hanslip , January 8, 1925 - January 17, 2017
and Dels Hanslip, December 16, 1925 - July 12, 2017
Hanslip, Joyce and Dels - Joyce Hanslip (nee Warsop) of Hanover, passed away at Hanover Care Centre on January 17, 2017 with her husband of 65 years, Dels, at her side, in her 92nd year. She was predeceased by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Robert Warsop of England. Joyce was born and raised in Nottingham, England. There, she was trained as a seamstress and worked in a lace factory. She was no stranger to hard work and soon became supervisor to ten other lace makers. Dels passed away at Hanover Care Centre on July 12, 2017 in his 92nd year. He is now reunited with his dear wife Joyce. He was predeceased by his parents Bertha and William Hanslip. Dels served proudly in the British Army and was a member of the Burma Star Association.
Both are very fondly remembered by Dels' sisters Vina, of England and Veronica (John) Fleischmann of Durham, nieces Debbie Tanner (Steve) of Hanover, Susan Mullin (Jim) of Feversham, nephews Steve (Julie) Sweeney of Barrie, John (Elaine) Sweeney of England and Michael (Jean) Thomas of the Isle of Wight, as well as by all of their families. Joyce and Dels emigrated to Canada in 1976, first settling in Durham, where Dels worked in sales at his sister's Saugeen Motors Chev-Olds dealership, then to Thornbury-Clarksburg area as Dels was employed by Allen's Apple Juice, before retiring to Elliot Lake and finally to Hanover. They loved to travel; taking many cruises, driving to the USA, and returning to their native England every other year. Dels and Joyce supported the Durham Girls Drum and Bugle Corps; following and photographing their performances. In their spare time, Joyce continued to enjoy knitting and dress-making, while Dels could often be found bowling and playing darts at the legion.
A Celebration of Life Service for Joyce and Dels Hanslip of Hanover, will be held at 10:30 am, Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at the Trinity Anglican Cemetery Chapel, Durham, Rev. JoAnn Todd officiating. An inurnment will immediately follow the service. Family and friends are invited for lunch and fellowship at the Trinity Anglican Church in Durham. If desired, because of her love of animals, the family requests donations in Joyce's memory to be made to the Grey-Bruce Animal Shelter. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Hanover Care Centre for their excellent and compassionate care.
