Remembering Murray Watts

From: Lee & Joe Joyner

To the entire Watts family (and Reese),we extend our deepest condolences. I will deeply miss our late night summer talks on your deck. I made it my mission to get a hug from Murray. He definitely was not a hugger. But I was glad to settle with a pat on my back. I love his sly smile and that twinkle in his eye when I cracked a joke. I will miss his hard exterior and marshmallow insides. Until we meet again, Much love Lee Joyner

So sorry for your loss. Sincere sympathy.

From: Geoff Bowes

One cold November afternoon at Centre Grey back in 1986, Murray insisted on hand picking 36 pine boards for my flooring project. He could tell that I knew nothing about lumber, and took it upon himself to come outside and choose every single ten foot board, discarding as many as he picked out. When we got back inside, his hands were so cold that he had trouble writing out my bill. Murray showed me that special kind of kindness for all the years he was at Centre Grey - flinging out from around the counter to pick out the plumbing or wiring stuff that I didn't even know I would need. We shared ideas and a lot of laughs over that counter. What a great guy. What a character. I will be thinking fondly of him for years to come, when I'm mopping my hand picked pine floor. Wishing comfort and peace to his family.
