From: Tammy Hollard
My heart is broken with the loss of my cousin Mel. I have known him since I was a child. Elaine and Mel welcomed me into their home. When I had children I brought them to see Uncle Mel who quickly became their favourite Uncle. Mel had the biggest heart and was there for everyone but his wife Elaine was always number one. He raised there fine children and his grandchildren brought a twinkle to his eye. I know that he is watching over Elaine and following her on his completed Indian Chief bike. Be well Elaine and kids. Elaine you were his one true love, even more than his bike. All my Love, Tammy Hollard

From: Linda & David Fowler & The Hudson Family
Elaine & family. We are all so sorry to hear of Mel's passing. He was an awesome man.I always thought you were an incredible couple with an amazing family. My mom thought the world of you all as we did. One of moms favorite stories to tell was how Mel took her for a ride around the block( Westmount) on his Harley. She was never so scared in all her life. I think she may have squished him half to death. I remember starting RBW in the early 80's and being surprised to see him operating the #3 Binder. I have to say that he was one of the nicest and best operators there. Moving out of Owen Sound, I didn't see you much, but whenever I did, it was always so nice to chat with both of you. I am so sorry for your loss. Please accept our heartfelt condolences. Mel will be sadly missed by anyone who ever met him. Thinking of you all. Linda, David Fowler - John - Nancy - Pat - Carl Hudson

Words cannot describe the shock and sadness we felt upon learning of Mel's passing. The Townline will never be the same without its "mayor". Engaging, easy going and a wry sense of humour, he will indeed be missed by all who knew him.
