Mary Elizabeth Skagfeld

Peacefully at Chapman House in Owen Sound, Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Skagfeld (nee Allan) passed Saturday December 4, 2021 in her 79th year. Loving wife of 36 years to Jon Skagfeld. Stepmother of Tracy Lynn McClure (Norman) and Karin Catherine Burns. Half-sister of Lynda Lepore (Aldo) and Kathy Hemphill (Don). Fondly remembered by 6 grandchildren, sister-in-law Liz Allan, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents James and Kathleen Allan (nee Shaw), brother James Allan, half-brother Tim Phillips (Cynthia), and stepmother Marie Allen.

Betty spent her career in Brampton where she worked at Nortel for twenty-nine years. After retiring she and her husband Jon moved to the Owen Sound area. Here she quickly became a part of the church now called Georgian Shores United. Tai Chi classes held in this region provided an interesting form of exercise, balance, and energy for her.

Cremation has taken place and arrangements have been entrusted to the Garafraxa Hill Funeral Home, Chatsworth. Inurnment at Memorial Gardens, Toronto. Respecting Betty's wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. Instead, when family and friends meet over a dinner or backyard bbq, they can remember her as they choose. If desired, memorial donations to Owen Sound Hospital Foundation Oncology Department, Chapman House, or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
