Ronald William Hill

The family of Ronald William Hill sadly announce his passing at Grey Gables in Markdale, on Saturday, July 29th 2023, at the age of 89. Ron leaves behind his beautiful wife of 69 years, Dorothy Marie Hill (nee Peart). Lovingly remembered by his children Terry Hill (Dorothy) of Owen Sound, Rhonda Hill (Bev), Damen Hill (Peter), daughter-in-law Kandace Carson (Lowell), all of Markdale. Proud grandpa of Christena (Sam), Brooklynn, Caitie (Kuber), Jaden, Collin, and Brelyn. Proud great grandpa of Scarlett (Squirt). Fondly remembered by his sister Lucille Sewell (Ken) and sister-in-law Marilyn Emke (Don). Ron will be missed by his nieces and nephews, Marilyn, Penny, Kim, Tim, Anne, Sherry and Jason. Ron is predeceased by his son Richard John Hill, son-in-law Shawn Carney, sister Georgina Hill and parents George and Lorna Hill (nee Chard). 

 

Ron was born in Markdale, Ontario on July 5, 1934 and was the oldest of 3 children. Ron grew up on a farm just outside of Markdale and eventually made it his own, where he and Dorothy raised their 4 children. He loved all things farming, especially machinery and custom combining. In 1988 after overcoming his farm accident, he became the Chief Building Official for the Village of Markdale until he retired. Ron loved his many dogs, watching television, working on the farm, puttering around the drive shed, hunting, snowmobiling and camping/traveling with friends. 
Ron married the love of his life and they would have been celebrating their 69th anniversary this month. They loved to travel together, spend their winters in Florida, attend plowing matches, go to dances, attend jams, farming and most importantly spending time with family.

 

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Garafraxa Hill Funeral Home, Chatsworth. A funeral service for Ron will be held on Tuesday, August 1st at 12 noon, with a visitation 1 hour prior, David Fries presiding. Interment to follow at Markdale Cemetery.
