Delbert 'Del' Nelson Budd

Delbert 'Del' Budd died peacefully, in his sleep on the evening of September 24, 2022 in Markdale, ON. He was 98. Del is survived by his wife of 38 years, Colleen, his sister Helen Fein, sons, Wayne Budd (Pam) of Waterloo, Greg Budd (Sue) of Medina, New York, daughter, Melanie Budd (Bob) of Waterloo, Step-daughter Colleen Podbilski (Peter) of Prince George, BC, and step-son Greg Nichol of Kitchener; as well as grandchildren Drew Budd (Vicki), Michael Budd (Lindsey), Kristen Kanellis (Gus), Erin Budd, Devon Linkert (Michael), Jake Linkert, Allison Felker, Jordan Felker, and Charlene Littman (Doug); great-grandchildren, Justin, Cohen, Chloe, Lucas, Lennon, and Brianna. He is predeceased by both parents, and siblings, Norm, Glenn, Jean, Ken and Betty Anne.

 

Born in 1924 on July 9 to Albert and Christina Budd, Del was joyful, charming, forthright, and blessed with remarkable math skills. He was a born salesman, a multi-talented musician and actor, a two-trick magician, an avid golfer, reader, and man of deep faith. Del proudly served in the Royal Canadian Air Force as a flying officer during WWII, flying missions in Burma and India and continued his active support of the armed services throughout his life. Del was a life-long car enthusiast, and his love of the road saw him and Colleen split their time between Holland Centre, Ontario and Gulfport, Mississippi, where Del was a cherished member of both communities. A passionate and dynamic human being, Del will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
 

Cremation has taken place and arrangements entrusted to the Garafraxa Hill Funeral Home, Chatsworth ON. If desired, memorial donations in Del's memory to the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 464 Chatsworth or the 404 Kitchener-Waterloo Air Force Wing would be appreciated.
