James Sonier

April 19, 1942 - January 6, 2018

SONIER- James William Sonier of Williamsford, passed from this life on January 6, 2018 with his dear wife of 56 years, Carole, at his side. Jim is survived by two brothers, and one sister; a  very special relationship with brother Clifford(Cliff) and his wife Anne of Barrie. Fondly remembered by niece Kimberley (Tony) Almedia and their children Jeffrey and Layla. Jim has now joined the angels he cared so deeply about and is having a good laugh with them. As described by Carole, Jim was a rare and wonderful man who believed strongly in fair treatment for all. He could be quite vocal on any issue where he believed anyone was being treated unfairly. Jim will be remembered dearly for his sense of justice and equality. He had a wicked sense of humour and a fierce belief in women’s equality long before it was ever in the public eye. Jim was always caring, supportive and protective of those he loved. Challenges were always met with optimism and treated as a learning experience.  Jim will be loved forever and ever ,“as much as the universe”, and sorely missed by Carole and their little dog Amy.

Cremation has taken place and arrangements have been entrusted to Garafraxa Hill Funeral Home, Chatsworth.
