Karen Donnelly

DONNELLY- It is with great sadness that the family of Karen Louise Donnelly of Holland Centre, announce her sudden passing in Markdale at the age of 58. Beloved partner of 23 years to David McAleese. Survived by her mother Geraldine Donnelly, siblings Keith Donnelly (Joanne), Colleen Stewart (Tom), Helen Ciampaglia (Dominic), Gerald Donnelly (Lynda), and Kevin Donnelly. Fondly remembered by her uncles Buster and Barry (Cynthia) Leyland and by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her father, James Donnelly.

Karen grew up in the Toronto area and attended Corpus Christi Catholic Elementary School and Notre Dame Catholic High School. She tried many different jobs, but two of her favourites were doing store set-ups for Mini-Mart and OR clean-ups at Scarborough General Hospital. On weekends, she loved to go "sailing"; meaning yard sales and thrift shops! She and David also enjoyed several cruises, including Alaska, Norway, and especially the Rome to Barcelona voyage. At home, she loved to settle down in front of the TV with popcorn and a scary movie, often staying up late as she was always a night owl. She loved kids and cats and having company over for dinner. Karen loved to bake and host Thanksgiving dinner every year. Guests would seldom leave empty handed; either with leftover food, or with some small treasure she'd found at a yard sale. Many will recall her naturally curly, gorgeous hair, but it was her good heart and infectious laugh that all will cherish.  Karen was one of those rare people that would do anything for anybody.
