Joan Vassella (nee Vanstone) passed peacefully at Chapman House in Owen Sound on Sunday, February 1, at age 88. Beloved wife of 64 years of the late Carlo Edward Vassella, who predeceased her on November 22, 2022. She is survived by her sisters-in-law Nancy and Helen Vanstone. Joan was the last surviving child of the late Clifford and Maria Vanstone (nee Durnin) and predeceased by her siblings Ted and James Vanstone, Patricia Thurlow (Lyle), Phyllis Fulford (Laird), and Glenda Littlechild (Larry). Joan will be lovingly remembered by the Vanstone and Vassella families, her loving nieces and nephews, dear friends, neighbours, and colleagues. Joan was born and raised near Goderich, and retired in 1992 following a 32 year career in elementary education as a teacher and consultant.

Cremation has taken place and arrangements have been entrusted to the Garafraxa Hill Funeral Home, Chatsworth, Ontario.  If desired, donations to Chapman House would be appreciated by the family.
