Slideshow- Remembering Sharon Douglas

Sharon Mabel Douglas

January 5, 1958 - July 5, 2021

Succumbing to cancer peacefully on her own terms, with dignity, grace, integrity, and surrounded by the love of her family, Sharon Douglas (nee Reid) passed Monday July 5, 2021. Sharon leaves to grieve her devoted husband of 23 years, Tom Douglas of Chatsworth, her daughters Leslie Wright (Sean Turner) and sons Noah and Ryan of Walkerton, Sharah Wright and sons Travis and Wyatt of Chatsworth, and Brittney Wright (Curtis Minke) of Chatsworth. Loving daughter of Joe and Nadine Reid (Markdale), and cherished sister of Brenda Reid-Bruce (Graham) of Sauble Beach, Susan Astbury (Miles) of West Grey, John Reid (Linda Langille) of Nova Scotia, and Tim Reid (Anne Petch) of West Grey, Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and a number of “greats”, as well as step sons Derek Douglas (Kelley) of Grimsby and daughter Payton, and Tommy Douglas (Sandy) of Kingston and their children Jordan and Sarah Also mourning her loss are close friends Lana Thompson, Kari Rivest, Marilyn Haynes, and others dear to her.

Sharon was born with a best friend and confidant in her identical twin Susan throughout their lives they have been mistaken for each other. Their special bond existed from infancy, as babies they had their own language which has continued over the years, an unspoken message, the ability to laugh until they cried, while others were left wondering what was going on. The grandsons have an additional grandmother in Susan who will do her share in passing on Sharon’s legacy, they will know the best secrets and words of wisdom. When Sharon met Tom it was almost love at first sight they met at the Market chip wagon and 6 months later they were married. Sharon was a caregiver dispenser of advice along with cookies, baker of bread, the best apple pies, tarts and Christmas pudding. Her caring has continued even as she prepared her path for the next life, looking after many details and preparing her loved ones the best she could. Sharon always had advice for a quick meal, good book, worthwhile movie. Her sage advice will be greatly missed by her family.

Cremation has taken place and arrangements have been entrusted to the Garafraxa Hill Funeral Home, Chatsworth. A private graveside service will be held Friday July 9, at McLeans Cemetery, Bognor, Rev. Jack Fearnall officiating. If desired, memorial donations to the Owen Sound Animal Shelter would be appreciated by the family. The family would also like to thank Dr. Daniel Lothstein and secretary Theresa, for their care and comfort extended to Sharon. Online condolences may be expressed at www.garafraxahillfuneral.com
