Ruby Wilson

October 4, 1920  -  August 20, 2017

Wilson, Ruby Ann Beatrice- Ruby Wilson (nee Nesbitt) of Owen Sound passed at Summit Place on Sunday August 20th, 2017 in her  97th year. Ruby was predeceased by her dear husband, Norman Wilson. Survived by her loving sons Jim Wilson (Soile) of Chatsworth and Glen Wilson (Jillian) of Vancouver. Dear grandmother to Jeff, Maxwell, Grant, Temina, Selina and Hannah. Ruby was predeceased by her parents George and Elizabeth Nesbitt (nee Hill), by siblings Elmer (Vada) Nesbitt, Minnie (Norman) Cook, Viola (Oliver) Leopard, Verna Nesbitt and Jim (Marjorie) Nesbitt and by sister-in-law Louise Wilson , and by brothers-in-law Carl (Alice) Wilson, Brian (Rose) Wilson, and Vivian Wilson

Ruby was born and raised in Grey County and fell in love and married her husband, Norman, when she was twenty-one. Together they raised their two boys on the family farm. The yard was always alive with the sounds of ducks, hens, cats and dogs, and she loved looking after the animals. Ruby was no stranger to hard work, and this was put to the test after Norman's death in 1971, as the family continued to look after the 200 acre farm together. Her boys recall what a great person she was and how she became mother to everyone that came to visit. She loved to cook, entertain friends, and was a great story teller. In her quiet times, sewing, knitting, and quilt-making kept her hands busy. Gardening was also a passion, and the large garden sprouted with vegetables and bloomed with flowers, like her favourite peonies. Her dogs were always faithful companions in her later life, especially a black Lab, Joe, who would always help her to her chair. Breaks in the hard work were few, but she managed to travel to both the east and west coasts. She will be missed dearly.

Visitation will be held at the GARAFRAXA HILL FUNERAL HOME on Wednesday, August 23 2017, from 7:00 - 9:00 pm.
