So sad to hear about Jean’s passing.  We didn’t hear about it in time to attend visitation.  She was a lovely person and I always was happy to have a little visit when we would bump into one another.    Thinking of you, Paul, and the whole Whalen family at this sad time.

From: Louise Armstrong

Paul, Dave and Kevin, my deepest condolences on your profound loss. Your mother was a force. She endured tremendous grief but always made time to take care of others. She was there for me in some tough times and I always left my meetings with her feeling better than I felt before. Your mom devoted her life to supporting others, from babies to teenagers to seniors and animals, and they were all the better from having her light shine on them. I feel fortunate to have known her and I am sending you my love xo

From: Ruth Davis
Dear Paul, David and Kevin; Filsinger Siblings, Neighbours, Friends.
Jean is one of those special people who I had the opportunity to know and love. Her physical beauty matched the beauty of her giving heart. She Loved her Family, Adored them. Was devastated at the death of their son Kenneth. But, she kept busy, meeting the needs of so many around her. She gave from her heart, her home. Many are the laps of those in nursing homes who have been blessed by one of her hand knit lap blankets. There are so many things that Jean has done to make the lives of those around her more pleasant. This world is missing a wonderful person; Heaven has gained our beautiful Jean. My sympathies to you as you grieve such a wonderful lady in your lives.
Sincerely, Ruth Davis

From: Mark & Marilyn Rushton

Dearest Paul, David, Kevin and all of Jean’s family; I am just broken hearted to hear this news. I am so very sorry for your deep and profound loss. Jean holds a very special place in my heart, as you know. In her deep grief, all those years ago, over the loss of her beloved Kenneth, she reached out and witnessed to me; Marilyn and I often say that God used Jean Whalen to show me the love of the Lord and help lead me to Him. My family and I shall always be grateful to her for that. And grateful to you all for sharing this beautiful soul with so many of us. I know mine is only one of many many stories about her tender loving heart and how she loved with all of hers. The burden of sorrow for me is lightened somewhat with the knowledge that she has finally met her Saviour face to face, heard those wonderful words, “well done, good and faithful servant” and is walking on the shores of Heaven reunited with her dearest Ken once again. I know how much you will miss her but take comfort in the all the memories and in all the stories like mine, from all the, as she used to say herself, “jewels in her crown.” God gives us memories, so that we might have roses in December. God bless you all, each and every one. With much love and our prayers, Mark & Marilyn.
