To Ruth and the Hill family - it is with great sadness to hear of the loss of such a wonderful person in Don. After listening to the video on Youtube about the 75 years history of agriculture - it was very evident that Don was very well respected in this community. The humour, mixed with an extreme depth of historical knowledge about agriculture and the people within that community - engaging participation in his audience - talent and insight beyond most peoples awareness! To Ruth, I am truly sorry that Don's accident took him from you and his family, far too soon - peace and blessings be with you and yours. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Pearl & Brian Bumstead

Ruth, Marilee, and Cynthia,
Our thoughts and Prayers are with you.  Don is and will always be remembered as a ray of sunshine and patient man when he rolled up to the market early or late.  We (including our staff) will remember him fondly as a sweet gentle man with a smile that lit up a room.  We will miss him greatly.  Please don't hesitate to stop in for a coffee and muffin, we will always have time for you. :)

I was so very saddened to hear of Don's passing. Don and I were co-volunteers with Grown in Grey over the past few years and fellow farmers. He was always kind to me and eager to promote agriculture in Grey County. My thoughts are with you all during this very difficult time.

My condolences to the Hill family.  It was a privilege to have Don Hill as an instructor of the Grower Pesticide Safety Course in the early ’90s. We were fortunate to benefit from his natural talent as an agriculture educator. With deepest sympathy, Susan

Ruth and Family. I was very saddened to hear from George Greenlees about Don's terrible accident and subsequent death. The news brings back many memories of our great times in '62 Animal Husbandry which were enhanced by Don's humour and friendship. I particularly recall our camaraderie on the four state road trip with Don and the rest of the judging team enroute to the International Livestock Judging Competition in Chicago. Because Nancy died in October 2015 I am sincerely empathetic to what you are going through and will be thinking of you.

To Ruth and family, we were deeply saddened to learn of the tragic loss of Don - husband, father and grandfather - and good friend of ours for many years. We first met as classmates, OAC 62, and maintained a valued friendship from that time onward. Don was a proud Aggie in every sense of the word and contributed greatly to a number of farm organizations. He will be missed.
To Don's family we extend our thoughts and prayers at this most difficult time.

I have just read the eulogy about him and it leaves me wishing I had known him.  What a wonderful tribute to his life.  I will not be able to attend the visitation as we are hosting my family reunion that weekend.  I wish you much strength and courage as you go through this very difficult time in your life, grieving and missing your life partner.  May God Bess you and give you comfort, sincerely, your alto friend....Hilda

So saddened to learn of Don untimely passing. But very fortunate to have had the opportunity of working with Don through OSCIA and seeing Ruth and the girls at the many summer meetings. Loved his sense of humour and wit and the knowledge he shared when chatting with him. He will be missed by many but not forgotten. We sent our regrets in not being able to see you personally Ruth but will visit in the near future. May Don be granted eternal rest and perpetual light to shine upon him. Thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

We extend our condolences to the entire Hill Family. While we did not visit often we did think of Don often and whenever we passed the farm and market on our way further North up the peninsula.

My first employment with the Ministry of Agriculture was working for Don at Ridgetown. It was a happy time and Don was the mentor that I appreciated having to start a career.  I knew he would find his way back to the farm as he spoke glowingly of Grey County whenever a comparison to something could be made.

I was privileged to work for Don Hill during the summer of 1964 when he was a Ministry of Agriculture soil and crop specialist located at Markdale, and I was an undergrad student at the Ontario Agricultural College. I learned so much from Don that summer, not only about crops and soils but also about working with farmers and the special quality of rural life (not to mention the unique character of Grey County). I've treasured that experience ever since and offer condolences to Ruth and her family on the tragic death of this wonderful person.
